Sebastian sat on the other side of the glass, as the three students were placed inside the Danger Area. When the last student entered, the sliding door would close with a mechanical whirring behind it. The screen in the corner of the Danger Area lit up, and text appeared. Anti-Mutant Armed Forces scenario activated. Wave One of Operatives spawned. The screen after a few moments would disappear as the room itself transformed into an all new area, now a city street, void of life save for the mutant children and the oncoming threat of armed agents set to kill the kids down the road. The students had little time to prepare, because their opponents had guns.
Carter Devlin stood in the center of all the ruckus, eagerly waiting as he stretched, trying to limber up. The boy had connections and so, he was wearing a specific bodysuit that was made with unstable molecules, courtesy of his father. It was nothing too special, black with a sort of red lining and undertone. And it involved a lot of metal protection but, why? Who knew. He concentrated the energy around him, arms outstretched as he was soon consumed in flames, the metal on his body glowing hot. Every visible orifice spewed fire, including his eyes, which took on a noticeably glowing and fiery hue. This would be done within seconds, a fiery arm sweeping along the warm air in front of him, sending a wave of fire at the first line of soldiers. "Ahahaha, can stop me, Mundanes!" He seemed oblivious of his comrades, taking delight in sending radical fireballs at the troops, walking confidently along.
Alec Balthazar would stand there, quite bored until everything happened. When the room changed, and everything took on a whole new life, including, he guessed, Carter, he got a little excited. He'd stand up straight now, tossing the toothpick he'd had to the ground and popping his neck a few times. "Awroyt," he said, motioning for the idiots to come after him. He loved a good fight. He didn't attack just yet, though, the wind did pick up noticeably within the area. He waited for the pawns to get thrown off, so he could make a move.
Penny Shadley watched them both with a bit of irritation. The wind caught her uniform skirt, and she was thankful she'd swapped out knee socks for tights today. "Devlin keep your temper!" She shrieked. Telekenetic force uprooted a mailbox, sending it hurling at the forces. "They've got firearms!" The tall woman had gotten a tad bolder since her last simulation and would begin building up a telekinetic barrier around herself, hoping to avert any bullets that may be fired. "Wait for them to get closer!"
The crowd cheered as the mutants began to show their abilities. "MUTANT SCUM! You're freaks of nature!" They called out. The front row was a line of men with shields, so the fire balls simply collided with strong and durable shields. "Gonna have to try harder than that, mutie!" Someone with a very loud voice shouted, and the entire crowd cheered in response. The first round of shots were fired, sending a huge barrage of bullets towards the kids. They wouldn't pierce the skin if they hit, but damn they'd hurt.
Carter Devlin ignored Penny as he cackled insanely, clenching his fists and the flames around his body stretching until the boy was swallowed up by an inferno. It spread about a foot out from his body, in all directions. His dark outline the only thing visible. "Bulle's an' shields can' stop me.. Oi'll jus' mel'em!" His voice seemed distorted, mixing with the raging inferno and sounding darker. Yet, he didn't seem to be a danger to his teammates, continuing to act as if they weren't there.. The bullets would be melted before they could reach his form, probably rubber bullets anyway. "Alec, crea'e ah tornado of debris aroun' em.. Oi'll seh it on fiyah, yeh?" As soon as Alec did so, he would shoot out a long, continuous stream of fire into the wind, using both the oxygen and debris to light it on fire, creating one fiery, twister.
Alec Balthazar would turn to nod at Devlin. The wind picked up even more within the area, and for a few minutes, the wind would be everywhere, a very strong breeze. Then, it would all whirl around and surround the group of men that had firearms. "Penny! Grab those shiels, ey?" he said before the wind was too loud to allow verbal communication. The tornado would form soon after, and it would pick up all sorts of debris. Trash, rocks, etc. Two or three men were even sucked up, and a few of the men had their shields pulled away, and a few more having their guns ripped from grip. Then Devlin set it ablaze.
Penny Shadley kept her barrier up, the bullets bouncing harmlessly off her, though it would be a considerable amount of strain. She'd focus on the shields, and begin wrenching them, one by one, out of the soldiers grips. Tossing them into the tornado, she'd send out a mental pulse, instilling fear into the soldiers minds. "I can't keep the shield up too much longer!" She called over the wind. "Those bullets are gonna start getting through!" She fell back a few steps, expanding the shield enough to protect the three of them.
One by one, the men would lose their shields, and the few men that were picked up by the tornado were all instantly killed. The fire in the tornado made everything worse, setting a very large percentage of the men on fire. However, they were all well equipped, and only 2 of them were taken down by the fire, while the rest remained standing. The group muscled forward, getting through the tornado, and all the fires had diminished after burning a few items of clothing. The first round of bullets ended now, and that allowed for an attack, as shields and guns were gone, leaving only men.
Carter Devlin laughed more, his laughter unrestrained as he walked forward, arms outstretched in front of him. "Oi don' need no shield!" Shouted angrily to Penny as he walked forward, unafraid. He tucked his arms back against his right side, pulling the heat from the men, from the atmosphere, a fireball beginning to form at his side, growing in size. "Yew blokes don' know 'oo yer messin with! Don' even try an' run... Oi take no prisoners!" Dev unleashed the ball, the fire compressed and as soon as it hit where it was aimed, the center of the soldiers, it would explode as if it were a bomb, aiming to take out the entire group. But, that wasn't it... There would be back-up and he was prepared for that. While this attack fire off, he would stop in his walking, moving into the center of the street, in front of Penny and Alec. Arms outstretched again and they began to shake, the tension growing was almost physical. [1/3]
Alec Balthazar would release the tornado, and the wind would continue to whirl around, growing in strength as the breeze slowly turned into a damaging wind. Just in this instant, the soldiers were put off guard as the wind began to attempt to throw them around like ragdolls, but it was only gaining strength. When Devlin attacked, he'd nod and call out, "Royt good, you ah!" with a laugh. When Penny tried to shield him he'd shake his head. "salright love! Got mah own protection, I do!" he said, a small bubble of rushing air surrounding him. "You take cah o'yerself." He said. [1/2]
Penny Shadley would grumble as both boys would pass her shield, and roll her eyes. "Just be careful! I don't want either of you getting hurt!" She'd lift another mailbox, and hurl it into the troops of men, sending several of them rolling. "Keep an eye on the sides for escapees! Don't kill them!" She shrieked. Ever the bleeding heart.
The men would explode in all different directions when the fireball hit. Men were falling down left and right as fire and air took its toll on them. It left a hole in the area where the fireball had hit, but it quickly closed up as the men would form back into a wall. "Ya pathetic, you are! Millions of us, thousands of you! You're all dead anyway!" someone desperately called, even though it was clear this wave was being ended. The mailbox took out three men in all, hitting one man, knocking him over, tripping another, who landed on another. Shots were being fired once more though, as the command was shouted. FIRE AT THA MUTIES.
Carter Devlin snickered as the air grew hot around him and in front of him, hopefully the other two would keep their distance. It was obvious something was building, something in the air grew hot, dry... Tension snapped and crackled as he stood, arms beginning to shake from the strain. One leg buckled underneath him but he just laughed, voice booming. The flames around him seem to be gradually increasing, the ground around him melting under the heat... While he continued to power up, the bullets just melted before they hit his body, turning into liquid hot messes. [2/3]
Alec Balthazar was a distance away from Devlin. He smiled as the group grew cocky, he did love an unworthy opponent. He had nothing to say really, but as the tension grew, he grew a little anxious. The wind which had been building suddenly took a definitive direction, compacting into a ball before bowling right into the center of the men, where Devlin had hit just moments before. Then he would turn and bolt, running UP the side of the building, a barely visible wind pushing him upwards. The ball of air would take out a good number of the group. [2/2]
The men continued to fall as the mutants grew stronger and stronger. The center would once again be hit, and a group of the men fell, about 10 in all, with the rest suddenly stopping as the rush of air disoriented them. The shots stopped, as they all tried to catch their breath. A few of them turned their head to look at Alec as he ran up the wall, and a few more stopped in their tracks to watch as the Devil became apparent. "ITS SATAN IT IS!" they all screamed in unison, all of them unable to move for one reason or another. It left them vulnerable for attack once more.
Carter Devlin laughed louder, dropping down to his second knee... The fire growing in front him, the air becoming thicker, hotter.. And then a wooshing sound was heard, a wall of fire suddenly erupting from the ground up, it scaled the buildings, becoming thicker, more tangible, increasing in intensity. And then, it started moving. Dev forced himself to stand, walking slowly, pushing the wall as if with his hands but, his fiery form was separate from the large entity. He panted heavily, summoning up a good portion of strength, arms tucked back and then pushed forward, sending the wall zooming towards the soldiers, pedestrians, anyone on the sidewalks, in the streets, peering out the windows, helicopters (both news and military) would all be incinerated slowly. As soon as it was released, Dev collapsed, his form suddenly visible and smoking as the fire around him dissipated, the flaming wall continuing on for half a mile before fading away. [3/3]
Alec Balthazar would curse to himself as he felt the heat suddenly burst from his right. He'd quickly change direction, running along the wall away from the fire, with the help of two strong streams of air. Then he'd leap off the side, and flip once before landing on the ground safely 50 feet below. He was around Penny now. "Wadda fuck is dat, eh?" he called out, to both of them. When Devlin collapsed, Alec would run towards him, squatting down and looking at him. "You dead?" he asked, not seriously, but he'd like to know.
Penny Shadley dropped her shield and screamed, covering her face with her hands. She could smell flesh burning and it was enough to turn her stomach inside out. "Carter NO! STOP IT!" She'd squeeze her eyes shut, covering her face and body from any debris, mostly everything harmlessly bouncing off the barrier she'd unconsciously put up. The second she'd heard him hit the ground, the woman would be off at his side and kneeling by him. Her tights had a few tears in them, and ash from a few burnt somethings or others hand smudged on her face and clothes. "Devlin...?" She ask quietly. "Can you hear me...?" She'd hesitantly touch the side of his face unless he was too hot to be touched, and in the case, recoil her hand. Her head swiveled to Alec. "Should we call Sebastian to take him to the medical wing...?"
The men all fell with the huge wall of fire, literally burning to a crisp. Moments after that, the room would transform again, back to the Danger Room. The screen in the corner lit up. Simulation Complete. With that, the door to the Danger Room would open, and the robot would roll in and offer a water bottle to all of the students.
Carter Devlin snickered as his gaze opened, remnants of flames bursting shortly from his gaze, his eyes almost appearing to be molten for a brief moment before his body simmered down. It would be too hot to touch, the heat fading on its own as Dev was too weak to force it back down. He was sweating but not from the heat, just from the excess of energy. "Yew ninnys, Oi'm foine... Jus' need sum wa'ah an'... meat," He'd force himself to stand, every muscle screaming in pain but, he pretended not to notice, taking a bottle of water and chugging it like a pro. "Aha.. yew see tha' wall, mate? Oi annihilated those simulations, bro!" Dev laughed, his laughrer somewhat unhinged as he unzipped his smoking suit, stepping out of it and tossing it aside. He'd be in a pair of athletic shorts, in red, and a burnt up wifebeater. "Oh.. shite.. Needa work on tha'.. Oi'll burn all moi clothes up.."
Alec Balthazar would laugh a little, standing up. He hadn't completely over exerted himself, but he could definitely use a nap now. "You look like shit, just sayin'," he said, grabbing a bottle of water, lifting his right leg to tap the robot's wheels. "Ya air presha might need to be checked, mate," he said, giving a wink to the robot and walking off. He'd open the bottle and drink it all in a matter of minutes. "Thawas fun," he said, laughing and smiling. "Buh I need a smoke," he said, walking into the command center and grabbing his backpack and putting it on.
Penny Shadley had pulled her handkerchief from her sleeve and held it to her nose. She was beginning to get a nosebleed, but kept it to herself, making it appear like she was just wiping her nose an awful lot. Her knees felt wobbly as she'd walk over to Sebastian, taking the bottle and moving to seat herself on the opposite side of the glass. She'd be picking up on Devs train of thought, and it was beginning to bother her a touch. Her hands shook as she continued to stem off the blood flow from her nose, happy her hankie was a dark maroon in shade.
Carter Devlin felt exhausted, he hadn't ever tried that move before.. And it was good for finishing things but, he definitely wouldn't use it lightly. "Yeah.. Oi wuldn' mind doin' thah again... Oi got more moves Oi needa try ouh, yeh.." Dev seemed too distracted, a fire raging in his eyes, the session hadn't fed his aggression, it had fed into it... Giving him a taste. He kept quiet though, trying not to think about it 'cause he knew Penny would pick up on it. Dev would grab his bag, moving to follow Alec.. "Yeah, Oi know watchu mean.. Oi culd use ah drink, too... Maybe Oi'll stop by the pub.. Yew wanna come?"
Alec Balthazar would turn to listen to Devlin. "Yeh mate, you know I am," he said, smiling. He grabbed his smokes from his pocket and dropped them in his pocket, readying himself. He really needed a smoke. "'ay, Penny. You gon' come?" he said, laughing a little. He knew the girl would never taint herself like that, but it was damn fun teasing her about it. He'd look over at the robot, peering down at the thing's wheels. Before the robot started trying to move, all the air in Sebastian's right tire had been sucked out, seemingly from a small puncture that had been there previously. Alec just sped up the emptying process. And then it would start moving in circles, and Alec was forced to laugh at it.
Penny Shadley wiped her nose a final time, tucking the bloody hankie into a pocket of her skirt. "I ah...I'm not much of a drinker to be honest." She murmured. The woman was still a bit shaken, rubbing at her hands nervously. "I think maybe I should just get some rest...I'm feeling a little faint." Her face had gone from red to a shade of grayish, sweat clinging to her brow. "And perhaps a shower." Her eyes flicked to Devlin, and nodded. "I'll be back in the room if you're staying with me tonight." She explained in a quiet tone. The woman would intently examine the fraying pleats of her skirt uniform.
Carter Devlin snickered a bit as he watched the robot, glancing from Alec to Penny. The boy seemed really oblivious to her condition, that or he didn't care, it was hard to tell. "Oh, well.. 'ave fun then... Oi'll prolly stop by la'er.. if Oi'm not too plastered and fuhget where yer room is.." He laughed a bit more before patting Alec on the back, moving to head out to the pub.
Carter Devlin stood in the center of all the ruckus, eagerly waiting as he stretched, trying to limber up. The boy had connections and so, he was wearing a specific bodysuit that was made with unstable molecules, courtesy of his father.
