Klaus Von Ulrich set his briefcase down on a table, hopefully one that she hadn't yet cleaned.. His briefcase wasn't at all dirty but, he didn't wish to hinder the long cleaning process any. "Ja, that is fine, fraulein. I am a patient man after all and the Headmaster must have a lot more important matters on his plate than solely speaking vith me," Klaus would smile at her, creases forming in his cheeks. When she seemed embarassed of her abilities, he furrowed his brows, confused. "Ah.. You may think so now. Once you truly harness your abilities, you vill be able to truly help people in great need. My own abilities vere once a great hinderance, though, vith age, I've come to realize they are gifts... You will understand, one day, Penny."
Bryton Yorkshire had seen Klaus come through the eyes of the many different cameras within the school, and he'd finished the daily paperwork. So, he had come out of his office and trotted on upstairs to meet this new, possible, teacher. He'd come in the library, a black pinstripe suit on and shiny black leather shoes. "Ah, hello. You must be Klaus?" He asked. He'd only seen the man once in a picture, so he wasn't sure. "I'm Headmaster Yorkshire," he'd say, nodding, moving over to offer a handshake to the other. After the handshake, he'd look over to Penny. "Thank you, Penny. You've done such a good job at helping keep the Library in order," he'd say, a kind smile gracing his face.
Penny Shadley nodded several times as she was spoken to, dusting off the books and organizing them. "I can only hope your right Doctor Ulrich. I really hope you are." She gave a breif sigh, turning her head at the sound of footstep approaching. Upon realizing who it was, she gave a polite bow of the head, casting her eyes down. She remained quiet untill she was spoken too, a breif blush of embarssment passing her face. "S'nothing Headmaster. I dont mind at all Sir. I enjoy keeping the library nice." She nervously smoothed out her blouse, whirling on her heel and continuing her work.
Klaus Von Ulrich turned slightly, catching sight of Bryton and once the man introduced himself, Klaus smiled a rather large but subtle smile, outwardly very pleased. His chin dipped down as he nodded, meeting the man halfway and offering a firm and very strong handshake. "Ja, I am Dr. Klaus von Ulrich, it is a pleasure to meet you, Headmaster Yorkshire." His own gaze would follow Bryton's as his smile grew softer and less formal towards the girl. "You are managing this library very well, fraulein," He'd add, before looking back to the Headmaster. "I hope I did not keep you waiting for my interview, Headmaster. I only hoped to acquaint myself vith this fine institution before our meeting."
Bryton Yorkshire would smile at the man. "No, no, it's quite fine. I had some paper work to get finished. I quite honestly thought I was the one keeping you waiting!" he said with a laugh. He glanced back over to Penny, she seemed like such a nice kid, well mannered and well educated. Bryton already took a liking towards her. Then, he brought his attention back to Klaus. "Are you free to do the interview now?" he asked, eyebrows lifting in a questioning manner. The man was a professional, even if he did take a very personal approach to his students, and so he tried to convey that to the other man.
Klaus Von Ulrich chuckled a bit and picked his briefcase back up, unlocking it but keeping it closed for now. A small smile still graced his somewhat weathered features, merely a polite one for now. "Nicht, nicht, Headmaster. I am a very patient man, especially in the face of a possibly job opportunity," He replied with another chuckle finishing his sentence. To the question, he became more serious and nodded, the smile fading but still ever-present on his features. "Of course, after you, Herr Yorkshire."
Bryton Yorkshire would smile and and nod, "Right," he'd say giving a wave to Penny before heading out of the room, expecting that Klaus would follow. He'd lead the man down the stairs and into the front office, where he would go into his own office. He'd sit behind his desk. "Take a seat," he'd say, motioning to the chair across from him which would slide back a little and angle itself towards Klaus. The door would close and lock as well. "Now, first thing's first, if you want to teach here, we expect that you either be experienced in hand-to-hand combat, or be willing to learn," he said, nodding.
Klaus Von Ulrich seated himself in the chair, taking a few minutes to adjust himself so his weight would not break it and his body would not become stuck. "I was once an Officer with a mutant police force in the States, X-Command. I am very adept with hand-to-hand combat as well as firearms training," Klaus supplied, sitting fairly gingerly on the edge of the seat. He crossed on leg over the next and interlaced his fingers atop that. "I also have taught at a previous mutant academy that also resided in the States, Tyme's Institute for the Gifted," He'd supply before being asked, if the question was even posed.
Bryton Yorkshire would give a small nod before opening a drawer at his desk and pulling out Klaus's file. "That's wonderful. Well, are you also aware that before we can make you a teacher, we must place you in a classroom as an aid, so that we can gauge your teaching skills?" He'd say, looking up to say it, then returning his view down to the papers. "We must do it for a variety of reasons. To make you a full on teacher requires a lot of trust, which you probably know, and so we must first have reason to trust you," he'd say.
Klaus Von Ulrich listened intently, the smile disappearing but, he didn't appear to be disgruntled, merely thoughtful. "That is to be expected, Headmaster. It has been a few years since I've taught mutant children so this arrangement works well for me as well," He'd reply, absolutely fine with the idea. "It will also allow me time to feel comfortable here and become confident in my own abilities, while simultaneously getting to know the students and staff."
Bryton Yorkshire would nod some, a smile appearing on his own face. Klaus was succeeding in gaining Bryton's acceptance, but he wasn't quite ready to make the arrangement official. After a brief stint of silence as he looked over the file, he'd close it and look at Klaus. "Well, you seem qualified, and very well mannered. I must also tell you this, we are not to tell the human students of us being mutants. The parents would, inevitably, become roudy and may very well take lawsuits up with us. We keep our silence, and we simply do our jobs," he said. "And another thing, you said you previously worked for a mutant police, this X-Command? Would you be interested in joining Excalibur? Call it our own X-Men of sorts," he said, leaning in as he waited for the answer.
Klaus Von Ulrich chuckled at the 'well-mannered' comment, the dim smile returning. "Dankeschön, Headmaster. I like to think I am," He replied, keeping quiet for the most part as he merely listened, interpreting all the information and thinking upon it before replying. "Ah, I see. I hope my own mutation is not too evident, I would hate to be a security breach for this fine institution. I have seen first hand what that can do for an academy such as this," Klaus replied a bit vague and cryptic but, if asked to explain himself, he would. He perked up a bit, both curious and excited about this next opportunity. "Excalibur? Yes, yes... I would be most honored to join this group, Herr Yorkshire. I feel with my talents I will be a suitable asset to you and your associates."
Bryton Yorkshire nodded. "We've hidden much more obvious mutations before," he said, giving an encouraging smile. Upon hearing that Klaus was interested, he gave yet another smile. "Good, good. Well, we can get you in now, if you'd like, as a trainee. We'll need to see you, at some point, in the Danger Room, to assess your combat abilities for ourselves. And when you get promoted to teacher, you'll also be promoted to an agent in Excalibur," he said. "Design a costume at some point, if you could, or have one designed, and we'll have it made. Do you need any weapons? Specialized guns, etc? We can also have those made and shipped. We aim to make you the best fighter you can be, so if there's anything we can help with, tell us," he said standing up.
Klaus Von Ulrich smiled further at that, becoming engrossed in his own thoughts already. He would be forced once more out of them, halfway through a planning process. "Ah, when not if, that is very reasurring. I have an old costume already made so you need not worry," He shook his head at weapons, raising his hands and smiling a bit bashfully, "These are the only weapons I need. I can lift around seventy tons, last I measured." Klaus also did not like weapons and the like so, if he could avoid them, he would.
Bryton Yorkshire would nod and smile, very happy that he would be forced to spend extra money. Though he was very willing to (as the parent's paid much more than they had to so he could provide the special requests), he did not always like having to let go of a safety net. "Well, then, you've got the job! I'll show you down stairs, if you'll just follow me," he said, smiling and moving over to the door and opening it, waiting for the other to stand and come with him.
Klaus Von Ulrich stood with the man, the chair creaking once he did, obviously relieved to be rid of the weight. "I also apologize for any broken furniture in the future... Most chairs do not wish to hold up my weight," He'd insert, glad the current chair did not break, yet. He would follow Bryton, smiling very happily at this point. "Danke, Headmaster," head bowing respectfully. After that, he exited the door, waiting to follow the other man.
Bryton Yorkshire would nod, "Not to worry. We have a handy little robot which fixes anything we might ask it to," he said, smiling a little. Then he would lead the man down into the subbasement, by way of the hidden elevator within the Janitorial closet. "This is where most students and staff reside. Down here you're free to say and do just about anything, within reason of course," he explained. "The dorms are on your left, and the Danger Room and medlab are on your right. At the end of the hall is where Excalibur agents will meet when something pressing might occur," he said nodding and turning around. "You do intend to live in the Academy, yes?"
Klaus Von Ulrich kept his hands behind his back, clasped together in a pose of formality, back straight and head forward. His gaze, however, did move around, taking in the change of scenery. "Ah.. yes, yes.. I only have a termporary hotel room in the city, after all," Was his response, remaining mostly quiet as he explored the hallway. "Hm, it seems all the academies have this in common. Tell me, are the mutant students here good natured?"
Bryton Yorkshire would nod a little. "Alright, we can set you up a room, then," he'd say. When the other question was asked, he'd say, "Mostly. It's quite easy to keep them in check if they get roudy, however. The real danger is in the ones who can't fully control their mutations yet. We've had some damage done from out of control powers many times," he'd say sighing. "But I believe you're quite safe from that. And, if a student should attack you, let me know. I'll take care of it," he said. Bryton kept a firm handle on the students, and they all knew what he could do, so they rarely tried.
Klaus Von Ulrich stood next to Bryton, moving his figure a little out, just checking the rooms out from his position. "I would be most gratutious, Headmaster," He'd state with a slight bowing of his head, then again, he usually did have to crane his head down a bit when talking to most people. "If a student attacks me, I worry for their safety. Especially if it is a physical attack, they may hurt themselves in the process," Klaus would reply, a gentle smile on his face. "If you wish for me to contact you, I shall. But, I see no qualms in halting any sort of fight. I am invulnerable to a lot, which makes it easy to get close to people with abilities that would... harm most."
Bryton Yorkshire would nod. "Well, then I guess I have nothing to worry about," he'd say a smile on his face. "For now, you can sleep in one of the empty student dorms, and we'll have a room for you within the week. Feel free to explore the school all you'd like, and if you need any help, call Sebastian. Just say his name and he'll come rolling in," and of course, the robot did come out of the medlab and look at the two. Bryton would wave the robot away, and continue talking. "He'll do anything you ask," he said, nodding.
Klaus Von Ulrich nodded at that, feeling even more confident at this point. "Thank-you, for your hospitality, Headmaster," He'd say once more, feel a lot of gratitude towards his new employer. He would continue to explore down here before finishing up top. "Sebastian? Ah, yes.. I see. I will be sure to." He did not really have much else to say at this point.
Bryton Yorkshire would give a polite, "You're welcome," and then walk off. Before he left, he called out, "Oh, just choose an empty dorm. There's plenty of them," and then he'd be gone. Probably off to change into his training outfit so he could get to the Danger Room and train.
"Ah, hello.
