He sat behind his wooden desk, in his office of the synagogue, where he had his bible open, askew to the piece of paper that sat in front of him. Hand tightly gripped the pen, as he brought the tip to paper, writing out his sermon, for the next Sunday.
Then he heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," Zachariah said.
His wife opened the door, leading two men in, both wearing casual outfits. One had glasses, the other did not.
"So, are you the ones that contacted me about the mutant?"
The men nodded.
The Jewish leader smiled, extending arm arm to the chairs in front of the desk, gesturing for them to sit. They did so.
"So, my son and his friend are mutants?"
The men nodded again.
"And you have the facility to hold them?"
The one without glasses shook his head, as he explained, "That facility was destroy, a only about a couple of weeks ago, by an experiment that escaped a year or two ago. We are trying to recapture her, and the other high priority experiment. If we can get them back, then we can finish our research, and we can take these abilities away, and give them. We could build an army."
Zachariah considered the two, for a moment, before he said, "I have a few friends in high place. I may be able to grant you the land and finances to build a new facility, all you have to do, is work for me."
The men nodded in agreement....
